I Heart Colour

Is there anything more lovely than colourful gifts? You’ll notice I don’t feature too many austere gift ideas on the Canadian Gift Guide, and that ‘rainbow palettes’ is probably one of my more frequently used terms for the ideas I pick out. If you’re with me on the colour train, than you’ll totally appreciate today’s eye candy choices, all of which come in electrifying shades across the spectrum. Enjoy!

French Bull Kitchen Accessories – $8+
Your kitchen is one of the best places to add an intense pattern or colour pop – no one’s going to scoff when you pull out a multi-coloured chevron Lazy Susan or serve up salad with a set of shatter-proof swirly tongs. Perfect for parties or simply to bring a smile to your everyday, the French Bull collection is a seriously impressive entry into the world of colour, and makes for a great hostess or housewarming choice. I’ve seen their products pop up all over the place online and locally, so check your local specialty kitchen or housewares shop first and foremost. Alternatively, you can order from French Bull directly (their shipping fees are a little on the high side for me), or check out Canadian shop Golda’s Kitchen for select pieces.

MyWalit Wallets & Accessories – $19+
Winning the award for most colourful purveyor of fine leather goods is MyWalit, one of my most beloved European brands. If you’ve ever encountered a MyWalit product, you’ll know that not only are they ridiculously soft, they’re also insanely bright and eye-catching (although they do offer slightly more subdued options with just a pop of colour). Diggin’ their colourful wallets? Be sure to check out their full line of stunning bags for lads & ladies. In terms of shipping, you’re getting the goodies from Europe if you order from ‘em directly, so be prepared for slightly hefty shipping costs. That being said, I first encountered MyWalit at a Canadian gift store, so I know for a fact you can snap it up in shops here! Contact ‘em for details.

Lulu’s Galaxy Custom Rainbow Ombre Hair Extensions – $69 for two
Interested in trying out the ombre hair craze but not ready to fully commit? Human hair extensions dyed in vibrant hues can give your hair a waterfall of colour for a special night out, or whenever you’re feeling keen to indulge in your wild side for a week or two. Lulu’s Galaxy has over 100 options for lengths, combinations and styles, all of which are customizable to match your hair or match your fantasy colour trial. Consider picking up sets for your bridesmaids to wear on your stagette night out!

American Apparel Opaque Pantyhose – $17 each
American Apparel is pretty much a colour lover’s paradise, known for producing their basics and not-so-basics in every colour of the rainbow, no more so than with their signature opaque tights. I own a few pairs myself and I can tell you, not only are they incredibly high quality (I have yet to run a pair), they also come in any colour to work with just about any outfit you can imagine. An awesome choice for a friend that’s collecting them all!

Brooklynn Leitch Photography Prints – $35 each
Finally, my inspiration for today, as suggested to me by a reader – some gorgeous abstract art prints from up-and-coming Canadian photographer Brooklynn Leitch. At just seventeen years old, Brooklynn’s beautiful photos capture colour in motion, and would make a stunning addition to anyone’s home or office (can’t you just get picture getting lost in one while brainstorming?) Best of all, her prints are actually super affordable, making them an ideal pick for students looking to freshen up their first apartment and parents looking for an abstract statement piece for their newly renovated den. Full of drama, personality, and life, these pretty prints are the ultimate colourful home decor accent!

Diggin’ Brooklynn’s prints? You can actually win the print of your choice, simply by doing the following:

1) Leave a comment by October 29th on which print from Brooklynn Leitch’s shop you’re most in love with – also known as, the one you’d pick if you were the lucky winner!

2) Entries are limited to one per person / per email address / per household (or more if you score bonus entries). A random draw will be conducted on or around October 30th to select the winner, who will have 48 hours to respond before another winner is chosen in their place.

3) Entries are limited to Canadians that have reached the age of majority in their province. Quebec is not eligible to participate in this promotion.

4) Bonus Entry: Pin it to win it. Pin as many of Brooklynn’s prints as you wish to Pinterest and leave links in the comments below to earn some bonus entries!
